Great Kids Healthy Snacks is a monthly subscription box service that delivers a variety of goodies for healthy snacking, which are ideal for lunchboxes, midday pick-me-ups, afterschool snacks, road trips, and after-dinner treats. So far, I’ve opened three boxes and devoured a lot of tasty snacks. Along the way, I’ve learned the following things about this food subscription:
1. Regular or Gluten Free.
There are two different kinds of monthly subscription boxes that you can order: regular and gluten free. I currently receive 30 gluten free snacks every month.
2. Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, and Treats.
A Great Kids Healthy Snacks box contains items that you can eat for breakfast, lunch, snack, and treats. For instance, Modern Oats premium oatmeal is a frequent goodie found in my Great Kids Healthy Snacks subscription box – a great way to start the morning. I’ve received Coconut Almond a couple times, and my last box had the Vermont Maple flavor, which I’ve read is one of their newest flavors.
The flavorful oatmeal is comprised of Certified Gluten-Free Whole Grain Rolled Oats, Vermont Pure Maple Sugar, Brown Sugar, Pumpkin Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Chia Seeds, Cinnamon, and Cardamom. There were a nice amount of pumpkin seeds. I felt that the cardamom flavor was stronger than the cinnamon. I really didn’t taste a maple flavor, but the oatmeal was really good! To eat the oatmeal hot, all you have to do is pour enough hot water to cover the oats. Place the lid on top, and then steep for 3 minutes. Stir well and devour.
3. 20 or 30 Snacks.
You can order the Healthy Snack Plan to deliver 20 or 30 snacks, or the Healthy Snack gluten-free Plan with 30 snacks; and select to pay on a monthly basis, three months upfront, or six months upfront. The different options for a subscription can be found here.
4. Receive Repeat Snacks in Each Box.
Unlike other subscription boxes, you won’t get an entirely brand new lineup of 30 snacks, there will be some repeats. In every Great Kids Healthy Snacks box that I’ve received, so far the following snacks have been included in every single one: Hippeas Maple Haze chickpea snacks, Peeled Snacks Paradise Found dried fruit, cherry One Bar, and GoGo Squeez Boulder Berry fruit & veggies on the go pouch.
Peeled Snacks and OneBar personally put a smile on my face every time I see them. I can’t get enough of them.
5. Discover New Brands and Flavors.
I always discover new brands and flavors in each Great Kids Healthy Snacks box. This time around I was introduced to the following:
Caveman Dark Chocolate Caramel Cashew Nutrition Bar is a paleo-inspired, certified gluten free snack made with all-natural ingredients. One of the first things I noticed with this bar was the sickeningly sweet, caramel scent, yet the taste really surprises. The bar has a light chocolate drizzle, and a solid chocolate coating on the backside. It has the texture and taste of a dessert-like granola bar. Sunflower seeds, caramel, and chocolate stood out to me. The bar has a deliciously nutty flavor – I love it! Other ingredients in the bar include sesame seeds, flax seeds, almonds, and pumpkin seeds. I’d definitely buy this if I saw it in the store.
Picky Bars (Cookie Doughpness Cinnamon Blazin’ Raisin) is a real food bar that contains non-GMO and organic ingredients, offering 7 grams of protein (14% of your recommended daily value – RDV) and 3 grams of fiber (10% RDV). Peanut butter and dates are the first two ingredients listed. I was curious to see how this translated in the overall taste of the bar. One whiff of the bar, and I get oatmeal cinnamon raisin vibes. However, the initial taste is all peanut butter, with a hint of cinnamon, some crunchiness, and a bit of raisin. It reminds me of a Larabar, but drier and more peanut buttery. It’s edible, but I’m really not a fan.
6. Special Offers, Discounts & Promo Codes.
Each subscription box typically has special offers and discounts, such as the promo codes for taking 20% off your next online order of Vermont Smoke & Cure snacks or saving 10% off one case of Wonderwell purified flavored water that came in my last box.
7. Buy in Bulk.
Not only do you get a steady supply of healthy snacks with a Great Kids Healthy Snacks subscription box, but you also get a chance to find ‘new favorites’ that you may want to buy in bulk…something that you can do directly on the company’s website.
8. Drinks and Other Healthy Items Included.
Beyond snacks, your Great Kids Healthy Snacks box may contain drinks and other healthy items, like the two Wonderwell waters and Dr. Pops Zinc + Vitamin C dietary supplement lollipops in my past shipment. Wonderwell waters are new to me, and I will be writing a little more about them in a separate post.
