Dr. John’s Sugar-Free ‘Thrive’ Lollipops Treat You to Candy that Gives Back

Dr Johns Candies Thrive Sugar Free Lollipops

Dr. John’s Candies’ Thrive is the first all-natural, sugar-less, lollipop in the world, and I recently got a chance to sample these delicious, cavity-fighting treats. ‘Unique’ doesn’t even begin to describe these lollipops… not only are they packed with fruity flavor, but they also come with healthy benefits that support more than just oral health, digestive health, and weight management. THRIVE® Sweets with a Purpose™ also give back to help fight childhood cancer, making this brand one of my new favorite sweet treats.

I received a 1-pound bag of individually wrapped lollipops that contained the following flavors:

  • Strawberry
  • Blackberry
  • Orange

Thrive lollipops also come in a Chocolate flavor.

The lollipops are a nice size (not too big and not too small). They really last a long time.

The Flavor

The flavor of Dr. John’s Thrive lollipops thoroughly satisfies in the taste department. I’ve tried a lot of sugar-free sweets and treats, and as far as lollipops go…these are the best I’ve had. Strawberry and blackberry are my favorite flavors. My mother thinks the strawberry lollipop tastes like Strawberry Jell-O. They both have strong, berry flavors. My nephew likes orange the best. I think it tastes like the Orange Hi-C drink.

A few things to know about Thrive lollipops include:

No artificial colors/flavors.

In addition to natural flavors, Thrive lollipops get their flavor and color from carrot concentrate, black carrot, black current, purple carrot, blueberry, and monk fruit.

No artificial sweeteners.

Thrive lollipops are naturally sugar free, and get their sweetness from two natural sweeteners: xylitol and erythritol. Xylitol is made from American birch trees, and has a reputation for deterring tooth decay. Erythritol comes from plant sugars, and has no calories. Both sugar substitutes look and taste a lot like ‘regular’ sugar. As a side note, I’ve used both xylitol and erythritol to cook and bake, with great success.

Low-calorie treat.

One Thrive lollipop is only 14 calories.

A high source of fiber.

One serving of Thrive (two lollipops) provide you with 10 grams of fiber, which is a whopping 40% of your recommended daily value – thanks to a prebiotic soluble dietary fiber called dextrin.

When I told my Mom this, her eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. I also LOVE a tasty high-fiber product, and getting a healthy dose from a lollipop is not only fun for me, but I can imagine, a delight for kids too. Parents can definitely feel better about choosing a sweet treat that has extra healthy perks, don’t you think?

Allergy-friendly product.

Thrive lollipops are nut-free, gluten-free, dairy free and soy free.

Safe for diabetics.

Of course, a sugar-free lollipop makes a suitable treat for a diabetic.

Made in the U.S.A.

Thrive lollipops are manufactured and distributed through Sugar Free Specialties, LLC, which is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Gives back to a good cause.

Max Love ProjectDr. John’s Candies has also made a pledge to donate a portion of their Thrive sales to the nonprofit organization MaxLove Project SuperKids, which is associated with improving the quality of life and lowering health risks in childhood cancer patients and survivors. Consuming sugar and certain artificial ingredients is harmful to some kids fighting cancer, and Thrive delivers a sweet treat that promotes good health that is especially helpful for their well-being. The juiciness of Thrive lollipops is also good for soothing a dry mouth, which I know can provide welcomed relief for those undergoing certain cancer treatments.

Will I purchase Dr. John’s Candies on my own? Yes! These flavorful lollipops not only taste good, but I appreciate that they are all-natural, sugar-free (without tasting like it), and low-calorie – definitely a product that stays in line with my personal dietary habits. I remember having lollies like these here in the UK a few years ago and they were delicious. Much tastier than the lollies that are full of sugar. I don’t know what happened to them though. I’ll have to try and find out!!
