Holiday Shoppers…Fight Cold and Flu Germs with Kleenex
Posted on Friday, November 29th, 2013
The crowds of people in search of deeply-discounted Christmas deals started early this year, and I watched in disbelief at the line trailing outside of Target last night at 7:30 p.m. In my neck of woods, there are freezing cold temperatures, snow, and chilled air coating the lungs. As people rush to grab deals on flat-screen TVs, iPads, and the Furby Boom, can you imagine all of the cold and flu germs out there? All I have to say is you better have your Kleenex ready.
Every year, the U.S. alone reports more than one billion colds and 35 to 50 million flu cases – doesn’t that just make you shiver? And, holiday shopping isn’t the only way cold germs can infiltrate your family. I learned from Kleenex that “96% of school nurses agree that when a child comes to school sick, other children tend to catch his or her virus.”
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) actually recommends facial tissues as one of the key strategies to minimize cold and flu viruses, which is why it really pays to have Kleenex handy in the house.
My mother keeps a back-up box in the bathroom closet, hallway closet, and the closet by the front door. I have a box of Kleenex decorating my work desk.
Cold and flu season has such an unpredictable nature, and you never really know when you’re going to get hit with a nasty bug. Luckily, Kleenex Everyday Tissues are designed to minimize the spread of cold and flu germs in a household – they’re thicker and more absorbent than ever before. Remember…colds are contagious (regardless of mucus color), so you need to practice frequent hand-washing and develop habits that prevent the spread of germs.
To learn how to cut down your chances of getting sick and/or spreading germs this heavy shopping season, take a look at additional tips and advice found on www.Kleenex.com about how to prepare your home for what’s ahead, and how you can avoid last minute trips to the store when someone in your household gets sick.
