Trader Joe’s Fearless Flyer comes in the mail, and I scan it like a kid in a candy store (with my allowance burning in my pocket). I know, just know, that something will catch my eye. A couple of weeks ago, it was Trader Joe’s Brownie Crisp Coffee Ice Cream Sandwiches that I zeroed in on. This frozen treat is comprised of Trader Joe’s own Brownie Crisps and coffee ice cream made with coffee syrup, Colombian coffee extract, and ground espresso. So, is it worth a try?
One package of four sells for $3.99, and is found in their freezer section. My disappointment began before I ever tasted the ice cream sandwiches, and that was with the size. I expected something slightly larger. I would best describe these frozen treats as ice cream ‘bites.’
The only thing that makes this ice cream sandwich worth trying is the delicious coffee ice cream. I would have rather bought a pint of this, and had been one incredibly happy camper. When you eat the brownie crisp ice cream sandwich in its entirety, it’s a tasty yet brief sweet treat. The brownie sandwich portion on its own is kind of bland in flavor.
One ice cream sandwich is 180 calories. You get 2 grams of fiber (8% of your recommended daily value – RDV), along with 3 grams of protein, 8% RDV calcium, and 6% RDV iron). It’s kind of high on the saturated fat content side (4.5 grams or 23% RDV).
I would not purchase this again.
