I’ve always been a fan of Garnier hair care products…in fact, Garnier’s Fall Fight is the current shampoo and conditioner that I use. Recently, I was able to sample a few products from the company’s new Whole Blends lineup, and I’m pleased to share that I’ve found a new favorite.
My Hair Profile
Before I share my review of two options in the new Garnier Whole Blends line, I should let you know my hair profile since not everyone will have the same results as I. My hair profile is best described as lots of curly hair prone to frizziness. Although I have a lot of hair, the actual texture of my hair is thin and susceptible to dryness and breakage. I use a leave-in conditioner on a regular basis, and haven’t used a hair dryer in nearly 20 years.
Garnier Whole Blends REPAIRING Shampoo and Conditioner
The Lowdown: A natural blend made with Royal Jelly, Honey & Propolis Extracts is meant to strengthen and heal damaged hair.
Feels Like and Smells Like: The shampoo and conditioner have a thicker-than-usual consistency that produces a rich, luxuriant lather. The shampoo and conditioner surround you with a delicious candy-like honey scent that lingered after my hair was fully dry.
Day 1: After using the Garnier Repairing Whole Blends duo, my hair was fuller (and fuzzier)…and when worn out…was reminiscent of ol’ school Chaka Kahn, Donna Summer or Diana Ross hairdos of the 80s. My curls were less defined, and ‘stringier’ in my opinion. My hair looked like I blow-dried it out.
The Next Day: My hair calmed down considerably, and I didn’t even need to use any product to maintain my curls. I simply spritzed my hair with water to moisten my hair, and I was good to go.
Final Thoughts: I don’t like the initial big hair look that takes a day to calm down, but I will say that the aftermath leaves my locks soft, full of life (lol), as well as looking and feeling rejuvenated, just like the product aims to do. After using Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner, I will say that my hair did not feel as dry. In the end, I don’t think this is a product for me.
Garnier Whole Blends SMOOTHING Shampoo and Conditioner
The Lowdown: Made with South Pacific Coconut Oil & West African Cocoa Butter extracts to produce a formula meant to tame and control frizzy hair.
Feels Like and Smells Like: The shampoo is a little on the thin side, and does not produce a rich lather. By the end of the wash, my hair felt very ‘squeaky’ (if that makes sense). The conditioner is the consistency of a cream-like lotion. Both products offer a pleasant coconut/cocoa butter scent.
Day 1: After using the Garnier Smoothing Whole Blends products, I immediately noticed a sexy softness and healthier appearance of my hair. My curls weren’t particularly full and bouncy, but they were tighter and frizz-free. You can definitely notice a difference…my hair just screamed ‘smoothness.’ I was extremely impressed with the results.
The Next Day: Hair is still looking lusciously healthy, frizz-free, shiny, and feels ultra-soft.
Final Thoughts: I am most definitely purchasing this particular Garnier Whole Blends in the future…I absolutely love the way the shampoo and conditioner made my hair look and feel. I’ve used similar products before, and they’ve tamed frizz, but also demolished the volume of my hair. I feel confident in using Garnier’s Smoothing shampoo and conditioner, and I will be adding it to my current hair care routine.
Disclosure: I received complimentary samples from Crowdtap so that I could review the product, and share my honest opinion regarding my experiences.
