I’m not sure how I initially came across Jeanne Oliver’s site, but I signed up to become a part of an artsy community where I’d have access to online, instant art school classes (amongst other things). There are paid courses and free ones too, like how to make your own Hand Carved Stamps; Chalkboard Art; and making Handlettered Envelopes (perfect for the holidays). Most recently, Jeanne Oliver has launched JO Shop, which sells goods for artists/artisans…but not just any art supplies…they are almost works of art themselves.
JO Shop sells artisan goods…but now just any art supplies…they are almost works of art themselves. For what I do, the shop’s Art Supplies & Necessities inventory interests me most. It includes watercolor palettes fashioned out of portable, reusable vintage tins.
You can purchase them empty, like the Vintage Blue Edgeworth Watercolor Palette shown above, or opt for tins pre-filled with handmade watercolors by Wildthorne, like the Minéral Terrestre (Earth mineral watercolor palette) shown below.
One of my absolute favorite items in JO Shop is this Leather Artist Portfolio (shown below), designed and created by Found Leather Goods in Bellingham, WA. I just love the color, craftsmanship, and eye-catching details – such as the brass knob that holds everything together and the sturdy Horween leather strap and handles. It’s one of those items that would make a fabulous gift.
JO Shop also sells:
- Art Prints & Originals
- Bags
- Books
- Jewelry
- Vintage Goods, from a vintage French palette for painters to art journals made from upcycled, vintage paper goods.
So, if you’re looking for online art classes or a place to purchase unique art supplies, check out Jeanne Oliver’s website and the JO Shop.
