Kellogg’s Eggo Bake Shop Swirlz

Hmmmm – doesn’t a cinnamon pastry with filling and icing baked inside sound delicious? I was sold when I brought home Kellogg’s Bake Shop Cinnamon Swirlz. The size of the pastry looked decent, not as small as other breakfast items I’ve encountered.
To cook this pastry, you must set your toaster to a medium setting. You are forewarned that it may take two rounds of the toaster to fully cook the Swirlz.
After retrieving my danish-like treat out of the toaster, my first thought was: “wow – this is pretty heavy!” It felt like it weighed a pound or so – I was truly taken aback. The second thought was “this smells pretty appetizing!” However, the filling is not evenly distributed. In fact, there was an entire section that lacked filling. For a couple of bites, the pastry was pretty bland – a waste of space. For me, when you actually get to the filling, it’s a bit overpowering in texture and sogginess. My last impression is that this is a product that ultimately suffers from being frozen before it is cooked.
Despite all of the weaknesses I detected, the overall pastry is relatively filling. In the end, I think this product may appeal more to a younger crowd.
