Cookie butter is a flavor introduced to me via Trader Joe’s, which sells it in jars, offers a cookie butter cheesecake that quickly sells out during the holiday season, and makes other variations of desserts. Most recently, I nearly gagged on the overly sweet Arby’s limited edition Cookie Butter Shake (which tastes like liquid diabetes)…so when Cookie Butter Oreos came around…I was initially hesitant.
However, I was not disappointed.
The “cookie” part of the Oreo is a graham cracker flavor, and really seems to have a crispier crunch, in my opinion. The inside cookie butter crème has a slightly gritty texture that I attribute to the “cookie bits.” All in all, it’s a winner in my book.
Oreo has been launching an onslaught of unique cookie flavors over the past couple of years…so much so…I’ve become fatigued. Every time I turn around, there is something new gracing the grocery store shelves. I’ve been ignoring creations like Blueberry Pie, Red Velvet, Jelly Donut, and Apple Pie, but Cookie Butter? Oh yes, I had to try it.
And most recently, I read that Chocolate Hazelnut Oreos are on the horizon. That’s another flavor that I will have to try…because who can resist THAT flavor combination?
Another Oreo-related product that I’ve also fallen in love with is the marriage between the brand and Milka which produced Oreo Mint Flavored Chocolate Candy Bars. Coated in creamy (melt-in-your-mouth) milk chocolate, the segmented candy bar is made with mint-crème filling dotted with Oreo crumbles. If you like Mint Oreos, then this is the candy bar for you. And, if you’ve ever had Milka chocolate before, then you already know that its high quality flavor really sets off the overall taste experience.
The mint candy bars are the chocolate bar versions of Mint Oreos, and can really help tide you over until Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookie time rolls back around.
