Can you believe it’s been 65 years since Mountain Dew first started refreshing our taste buds and recharging our batteries? There’s just something about a cold bottle of Dew that really hits the spot. As a Diet Mountain Dew Insider, I’m learning more about the colorful soda that delivers an unforgettable burst of citrus flavor. For instance, a lot of fans of the popular carbonated beverage have become a part of the DEW® Crew – a group of Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans on Facebook who enjoy exclusive access to Dale Jr. and #88 team content.
Diehard NASCAR fans may remember the original ‘Dew Crew’ from the 1981 and 1982 seasons – the pit crew of Darrell Waltrip who wore bright green pants and shirts in honor of his Mountain Dew-sponsored car. This year, PepsiCo revamped the concept of the Dew Crew to celebrate the Diet Mountain Dew sponsorship of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the No. 88 team. Nowadays, Earnhardt Jr. fans can become a part of a virtual Dew Crew that gathers on Facebook – sharing their racing thoughts and helping to make decisions that translate on the track.
