I have never used an oil-type product like Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil to cleanse my face – the thought never crossed my mind that oil could be good for my skin. By the end of a summer day, I typically need to remove concealer, sweat, oil and the daily grime that comes from being out and about. When I read the description of the cleansing oil, I believed that a product like this sounds like something I could benefit from.
Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil is made to remove all traces of waterproof makeup, dirt and oil. I find it interesting that the first ingredient listed on the bottle is mineral oil. Promising to “rinse clean without stripping,” I was intrigued.
My first time using the product, I noticed that it smelled pleasant. To me, it was almost like a green apple scent. The cleansing oil comes out as a light, watery oil in your hands. You are supposed to pump the product into your dry hands, and then gently rub in a circular motion across the skin. The product initially went on the skin smoothly, as an oil should. Then, you are supposed to add water to emulsify, and that’s when the oil turns into a somewhat milky consistency. Lastly, you rinse off the product with water.
Before using the Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil, I imagined that it would leave behind an oily residue that moisturized the skin. Surprisingly, it did not. My skin felt soft and smooth – I couldn’t stop rubbing it to take in the results. It did not dry out my skin – just made it feel clean and refreshed.
I honestly didn’t think an oil-like product would have such an effect. I’m impressed.
